“All the world’s a stage”

The performing circus troupe arrives to Greensboro Vermont for their final performance in a circuit. The performers are all tired, and ready for a break in the grueling nature of the tour schedule. Canio, the troupe’s leader, tries to encourage the team to finish strong, but even leaders have their limits.

This opera is an amalgam of the productions of I Pagliacci and Cavalleria Rusticana, with professional circus artists joining professional opera singers to provide a thrilling evening of music, theatre, and circus arts exploring the concept of the way that the lives of artists on stage bleed into reality, and blur what is true and what is fabricated performance.
