Opera Vermont’s Opera Passport (May 2027)

Opera Vermont is hitting the road in May 2027 with Opera Passport - a bold, statewide celebration of English-language opera built for curious first-timers and lifelong opera lovers alike.

Eight micro operas. Ten minutes each. All across Vermont.

This isn’t opera confined to velvet seats and red curtains. Opera Passport features 8 original micro operas, each just 10 minutes long, performed in many corners of the state - in places where opera doesn’t usually show up, but absolutely belongs.

One day during the week you might stumble into a passionate performance on the Burlington waterfront. Another day, you might find a hilarious story unfolding in one of southern Vermont’s small-town taverns, a community gathering spot, or another unexpected Vermont setting. Wherever you encounter it, each mini-opera is designed to pack a punch: fast-moving, emotionally direct, and unforgettable.

At the heart of Opera Vermont, we believe that Vermont talent deserves a Vermont-sized stage. This project will engage local, Vermont-based artists, showcasing the remarkable range of performers and creators who live and work right here.

After a week of pop-up performances and surprise encounters, on May 22, 2027, Opera Passport comes together for a culminating celebration at Opera Vermont’s home base: The BARN OPERA House.

It’s the perfect ending to a statewide adventure—bringing the whole journey home, and gathering audiences, artists, and communities under one roof.
